I'm Back, Baby!!

OK, I lied. Apparently I'm back to writing blog posts... Why, you may ask? Well, I just couldn't stay away. I am still in love with Twitter and it is still going to be my number 1 social networking tool, but I realized that blog posts, even if they're never read, are still very satisfying in the fact that I can go into much more depth than in a 140 character 'tweet'... and sometimes, darnit... I just feel like spewing tons of words about nothing in particular and nothing important... So as it is, I'm back.

The topics for today's post is Movies, T.V. and Video Games, because let's face it... what else is there?

In the world of T.V. I will start with my favorite summer show, Big Brother. This season, I'm already getting as annoyed as I always seem to get. I always relate/follow/root for a certain alliance, and that alliance always seems to get voted out right away. It has been 3 weeks and 3 evictions, and every single person that was voted out of the house was someone I wanted to stay. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

The next show, is a Showtime show called True Blood... and if you haven't seen it yet, please do yourself a favor and check it out. If you were to ask me I will say with certainty that this is the best T.V. show since The Sopranos... it is extremely well written, well casted and absolutely captivating. It is based on a series of books, but the feel of the actual show is like a Quentin Tarantino movie. Think, From Dusk till Dawn combined with Melrose Place. I've just begun watching season 2, and it's just as amazing as the first season. All I can say is... Watch This Show!

Moving on... finally there's a reality show that I don't have to watch in the closet and I can proudly tell my friends about... I am speaking of course about 4th and Long, Michael Irvin's show about finding the next Dallas Cowboy. The show is already over, so I shouldn't even bring it up, but it was a very entertaining show that pitted wide receivers against corner backs to see who could come out alive and the winner is guaranteed a spot on the Cowboys' training camp roster. The players went through a rigorous series of challenges and workouts and each week one player was sent home my Michael "Donald Trump" Irvin who proclaimed... "I'm sorry, the Dallas Cowboys cannot use you," and with that they were sent home.

As I said, the show is over and the winner was a wide receiver, Jesse Holley, who, in real life, only made it as far as The Bengals practice squad in the past. With the exposure he got on the show, and depending on how he does in training camp, he should be able to do a little more this time... or at least maybe make the Cowboys' practice squad. I will be interested in seeing his progress through camp and see how far he can take the ball and run with it... so to speak.

My next topic is the remake/re-imagining of Nightmare on Elm Street. There have been a lot of re-imagining lately, especially to horror movies. There was Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Star Trek... and probably more that I just can't think of right now.

So anyway, I just recently saw the preview of this upcoming movie and am very curious. I am a huge fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series... own all the DVD's... and watched most of that horrible TV show that they made. I'm just a fan of Wes Craven and the character of Freddy Kruger. So honestly, I don't know much about this new movie except that they recast Freddy and it is supposedly a new take on the story. We shall see... If it re-imagines the movie as well as Star Trek did, then I'm all for it.

My last topic of discussion is Madden 10, the video game, which will be out in about two weeks. It's always around this time of year that I get excited because football is right around the corner. Training camp has begun, the pre-season will be kicking off soon, and of course, a new Madden game is released. I've already spent plenty of time with the demo, which is a mix of good and bad... the bad is that you can't change any settings or the roster, and the quarters are only a minute each... so basically it's a 4 minute demo, also, you can only pick between two teams... the good is that The Cowboys are one of those teams, The Giants happen to be the other... not so good.

In general, this year's game looks very much improved... especially with the realistic speed of the players and the new animations for tackling and breaking tackles... very cool stuff. I don't like how the play calling screen is, I preferred last year's, but what are you gonna do... not buy Madden...muahahahahaha... as if you have a choice...muahahahahaha... anyway, I can't wait...

OK, that's all... see, there's no way I could've fit all that in a 'tweet'...

Blogging is so 2007

Forget about a blog, because in 2009 it's all about Twitter.

As you can obviously see, I have not been posting blogs with the frequency in which I would like, in fact, I often go months and months between blog posts, and I know that nobody stands for that kind of flippant laziness. My excuse is (I know that you've heard them all before, but...) I have been more and more addicted to the newest 'thing' in social networking called 'Twitter' and in being more active with that, I am less active in this.

Twitter is the shit... it's like the news comes to me and I don't have to do anything but open up my twitter account or check my phone and boom, it's all there waiting for me to read... everything from CNN breaking news to what Ocho Cinco ate for breakfast and everything in between. The local people that I follow often update about local drink specials, weather and other happenings around town while people like Adam Shefter (current ESPN reporter/former NFLN reporter) update the latest football news before ESPN even breaks the story.

I'm definitely hooked.

In closing, I don't really know when I'll update this blog next, it may be tomorrow, it may be next week, it may be next year, it may be never... but please feel free to join me at Twitter, where I probably will be posting things more frequently... I hope to see you there... peace out...
