Monday...Again!?

How could I let this happen yet again?! I was deliberately trying to avoid this, but somehow it seems that Monday has come back to test my patience once more. I thought that I had finally figured out a strategy to avoid this horror, but alas, for what seems like the past 1,484 weeks in a row, there is another Monday just sitting there, waiting for me.

It seems as though it's always there, I could practically set my watch to it's predictable nature, but week after frustrating week, there it is... Monday. It also seems to strike when I least expect it. I will be enjoying my time for almost 72 hours, not a care in the world and then before I know it, BOOM, there's Monday, mocking me and forcing me back into a rigid and lackluster schedule. Why God?! Why are you cursing me?!

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't happening every single week without fail. I don't understand why it can't miss just one week, take a break, mellow out, come back on Tuesday maybe, but no, it's always there... ALWAYS!

Oh well, there isn't much that I can do so I'll have to learn to deal with it. Hopefully Wednesday will give me a break this week, it's the least I can ask for.

Death Before Dishonor

Hey Ya'll...

Remember how excited I was when I first got my iPhone and I started up a whole blog about it and all that jazz (of course you don't)... well, regardless if you remember or not, I'm killing the iPhone blog because I'm bored with it and it just plain sucks. I have to simplify things in my life and having some boring ass blog that sucks and I don't care about anyway is a waste of my time and patience... so there. R.I.P. iPhone Blog, it wasn't fun.

Movie Ideas

- Some guy hallucinates a magical adventure in another world, with a fair dose of talking trees and the moon and shit, I dunno, some kind of Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz rip-off.

- Microscopic Aliens attempt to take over the planet, but no one seems to notice.

- A war movie that turns out to be just some kids playing "war" in their backyard. Eh.

- A group of scientists go back in time and accidentally kill themselves as kids, they have to cope with living in the past and the potential paradox that may occur, or something.

- Some kind of alien thing lands in a city and it baffles the citizens and eventually makes them do crazy things, no actual aliens though, psychological shit.

- Cloverfield/Blair Witch type movie about a guy filming his kids baseball game... most boring movie ever, but drama escalates as the concession stand runs out of hot dogs.

- A duo of burglars break into a house only to find that the house has been deserted, so they just sit around and reminisce about their past, then they set the house on fire.

- Two lifelong friends fall in love with the same car so they have a falling out, but neither has enough money to buy it anyway so it turns out they buy it together, but then the one dies in a car accident. The hilarity ensues.

- An off-the wall movie about a Pizza Shop... Think 'Clerks' combined with 'Waiting' combined with 'The Big Lebowski' combined with 'Matrix' combined with 'Hunt for Red October'.

- A 'fake' true story about one of those guys that runs the zemboni at hockey games and his addiction to cartoons.

Huh?

Trying to think of some ideas for a screenplay. I have probably started writing about 20 screenplays of various lengths, but I only finished one of them, and that was co-written by a friend in High School and I'm pretty sure he has the only copy of it... Wish I could read that one again, it was some funny shit.

Basically, it's a time thing. If i had enough time to actually focus on an idea, I would definitely be finishing these damn things, but with life comes...well life. Work, wife, family, blah blah blah... Not enough time to just write, and apparently when I do have time to write I'm posting pointless things on a blog. Sheesh, I need to prioritize my shit.

Anyway, I forget what I originally wanted to write about but I don't think it was screenplays, or maybe it was... I did just get a pretty good screenplay app on my iPad, so I was probably thinking about that.

Oh... And another thing. Mystery Science Theater 3000 is one of the funniest shows ever. I've been spending a lot of my "screenplay writing time" watching old episodes of this show and cracking the fuck up over and over again. It really was a great idea to just have a whole show of people mocking crappy movies, wish I would've thought of that. One complaint though is that the theme song has been stuck in my head for about a week now... all three versions of it.

I think that's all I care to speak about at this time, leave me be please... leave me be.

My TV Habits

Lost Update

So I plowed through every episode of every season of Lost, got caught up just in time to watch the last 3 episodes live and now the series is completely done.

My feeling is that it was a good series. Regarding the finale... it was definitely a polarizing episode, while it didn't wrap up all of Lost's mysteries, enough were answered and enough closure was given that makes me satisfied.

I think many people's expectations were set too high and when they weren't given what they expected, they were disappointed. I really try not to get high expectations anymore, and just try to be happy with what I'm given (in terms of things like TV shows, etc...) What else can you do, you have to just accept what the writers have written. I understand not liking it, but well... I dunno... I'm probably wrong... moving on...

The Office

This show has been increasingly disappointing in my view [maybe your expectations are too high]...(shut up!)... anyway... the show has turned from a documentary style filming of a wacky office which seemed slightly plausible, to a totally scripted looking and feeling sitcom with unbelievable premises and character actions.

Steve Carrell has announced that the next season will be his last and he expects the show to carry on without him. Sorry to say that I was losing interest in the show for the last 2 seasons anyway and if Steve Carrell leaves, it will be a deathblow to the series, at least in my household. R.I.P. to what was once a great show.

Big Brother

One of my all-time favorite reality shows is coming back on soon, next Thursday, July 8th to be exact, and I couldn't be happier. I don't have any info yet... no news on who the cast will be, no news on what changes to the rules or the house will be... I know nothing. I won't even be getting the live feeds this year because of financial reasons, but I'm still excited for the show to start.

True Blood

This show started up again a few weeks ago, and so far it's not doing that great of a job capturing my attention. The first two seasons were amazing, but 3 episodes into season 3 and I'm not feeling the same excitement.

I will admit that the most recent episode brought me back into the world a bit more, but overall this season is feeling a bit, blah. Crossing my fingers and hoping they get back on track with this series.

Other various shows that I have been watching include: Wipeout, Hell's Kitchen, Modern Family (which is over for the season,) Judge Judy, iCarly and Victorious... I have also been watching some older shows... Sopranos (again,) and old episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000... That's my television consumption in a nutshell.

I'm Finally LOST

Well, it happened, I finally did it. For good or for bad, I got sucked into the vortex (albeit 6 years late.) If you wonder what I'm talking about, i'm talking about the highly acclaimed TV show 'Lost.'

Coinciding with my purchase of an iPad, which led to my purchase of a Netflix subscription, I have been catching up with movies and TV shows which I had missed. One TV show that I never watched, always wanted to and heard people talk about constantly, was 'Lost,' so I decided I would dive in!

After the first episode, I realized I was in trouble and wouldn't feel better until I watched them all. Thankfully, the first 5 seasons are all streaming on Netflix, so watching them is going to be as easy as firing up my iPad or starting up my PS3. The trouble is finding the time.

So far, I've watched up to episode 7 of season 2. In just 4 days. That's 32 episodes. There are about 5 1/2 seasons which totals 113 episodes, meaning I have 81 left to watch. Logically, I can watch more episodes on some days than others, so let's figure I watch 3 episodes on weekdays and 10 over the weekend. By next Monday I could add on 25 more and I should be up to season 3, episode 8. I can be up-to-date in 4 weeks... Monday, May 10th to be precise, which would work good because May 11th begins the final 3 episodes of the series, with the grand finale set to air on May 23rd.

Geez, I went from zero to sixty with this obsession and couldn't be happier with this show. After I get sick of this, I'll have to finally get into '24.'

Random Thoughts

- I smell really good today.

- The Oscars were on last night, I watched bits and pieces of the show even though I only saw two of the movies that were nominated, "The Blind Side," and "UP!"... both won something or another... but who cares..

- Been watching this reality show called Solitary... crazy stuff... it's like Big Brother meets SAW... minus the murders. It's definitely got me interested, as I find social experiments fascinating.

- White-Out really smells good today.

- I had a great idea for an iPhone app (wish I knew how to develop them.) Anyway... it's basically like a gift registry, but for grocery shopping. I could open up the app and see my 'grocery list' or whatever, and see if my wife already bought certain things... eh... now that I think about it, it's a stupid idea... why not just call the wife and ask if she bought the damn milk. Forget I said anything.

- 10 a.m. on Monday morning = Still not quite ready for work yet...

- Mmm... the coffee is really smelling good today.

- Trying to figure out ways to earn some extra cash... hmmm, I could sell stuff, steal stuff, extort politicians, invent the cures for numerous diseases, work at McDonalds, work at Bed Bath and Beyond, breed racehorses, sell drugs, steal drugs and then sell them, become a hitman, undergo an experimental surgery, or ask my parents... hmmm...

Another Comcast Rant

This is all my fault, it really is... Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me... Fool me a bunch of times... I'm just an idiot. Comcast has been a thorn in my side since I got it, and it doesn't appear that things are getting any better... the real question is why I don't get rid of it, and I don't have a great answer for that, other than laziness.

The focus of my rant today is this 'New Comcast Experience... Xfinity... new Channels, etc, etc...' Comcast is offering major 'upgrades' to it's service and channels, but once again, I'm getting screwed by them because of it.

First, Comcast announced that it is making changes to the channels... basically, if you don't have a digital box hooked up, you will be losing more than a half of the channels you currently receive.

In the past, if you have a TV with no digital box... you can hook it up directly to the cable and instantly have channels 2-77 (approximately.) With the new changes, you will only have channels 2-20. They are taking away more than 50 channels. Thanks a lot Comcast.

Their solution is to provide free digital boxes for the TV's that don't already have a box. Sounds OK... but No, it's not. They will only provide 2 free boxes (any more than that and they charge you more per/month.) I currently have 3 TV's that aren't hooked up to a box, so 1 of those will have to go without any good channels (I sure as fuck am not going to pay more money per month.)

The second problem with these boxes, they are another bulky device that I have to hook up and they have tons of new wires and a new controller. One of our most watched TVs in the house is the kitchen TV, but I don't have any room for a box in there, nor do I want wires hanging all over the place in the kitchen. Thanks again Comcast.

Overall, it's a bunch of crap. I understand they wish to look to the future and upgrade everything (which they need to do just to compete with other services/devices that have leapfrogged them,) but I'm getting screwed once again.

I say it time and time again, but this really may be the final straw and when next Football Season comes around, I hope that I wise up and jump back on the DirecTV bandwagon, where I have never had as many issues as Comcast has given me.

Domino's 'New' Pizza

This is a bunch of bullshit.

Domino's recently started an ad campaign that goes into the fact that customers hate their pizza, hate their crust and hate their sauce and so now they are starting from scratch and reinventing the way their pizza is made with a garlic crust and better cheese and bunch of other better shit.

First off, I must admit that I have not tried Domino's new recipe yet... I actually haven't eaten Domino's pizza at all since I was just a little kid, so I don't remember how it used to taste anyway. What I've heard, however, is that the new pizza isn't really that good either. I've actually heard that their new recipe tastes strikingly similar to Pappa John's pizza.

Which leads me to believe that they may have changed a few things in the recipe, but the biggest thing they are doing is creating a new ad campaign which gets people talking and gets business back in for at least a 'taste' of the new pizza, which will in turn cause a nice little surge in business before they start losing business again and eventually have to shut down.

My question is this... Why are you eating Domino's anyway?! This is America and there is a local pizza shop in every town in every city, and if not just one shop then dozens... one on every corner just about.

Please support your local pizza shops because they are a hell of a lot better than anything that Pizza Hut, Dominos or Pappa John's can dish out. The only pizza chain that I will even recognize is Grotto's Pizza, which is a small chain in the Delaware area... all else can get the Bozack!

Keep it Real!!

Comcast Sucks... but then, Doesn't Suck...

Comcast has been a thorn in my side since I got it installed. At first it was the whole ordeal with the NFL network being on a pay per view sports tier, then there was a long delay before our area got the NFL Redzone Channel in HD. This isn't even mentioning the fact that the guide is full of ads and offers a less-than-impressive experience.

The latest problem was with my HD DVR box, which started acting funny last weekend and displayed all local channels as 'To Be Announced,' on the guide. This usually happens if there is a power outage and the DVR box needs to re-download all of the program names. Unfortunately, it was only happening to the local channels and rebooting the system only caused ALL channels to display 'To Be Announced.'

Shortly after the guide problems, the DVR just shut off without warning. I unplugged it and plugged it back in... it started back up... for about 3 minutes and then it shut off again. After that I could not get the box to react at all. No matter what I did, this box was bricked and there was nothing I could do.

I seriously contemplated canceling my service, but figured I'd give them one last chance... I contacted Comcast Customer Service and (eventually) they set up a new box for me and so I went out to the Comcast store to pick it up.

I was expecting them to replace the same DVR Box that I was using, but when I brought in my DVR they handed back a brand new model, which I thought was pretty cool. I got home, hooked it up, called up the activation number and BOOM, it was working...yay! It even downloaded all of the programs within an hour, much quicker than my previous box ever did.

I have to say, I am really liking the new DVR and it's made having Comcast cable a little bit better. It seems more responsive, it has more storage capacity and overall it seems to eliminate some of the minor problems I've been dealing with using the previous box. There are still annoying ads in the guide but other than that, I am really liking it. Turned out to be one of my first 'Good' Comcast experiences.

One of Those Days...

A flood of incredibly good things happen and inevitably, the other shoe will fall.

I had a great holiday, tons of fun, everything seemed to be going great.

Yesterday after work, for some reason I felt extremely tired and fell asleep at 6:00 p.m. I didn't wake back up until 6:30 a.m. this morning. Hmm... weird.

This morning I got to work, everything was fine, but then someone brought it to my attention that my car was running, so I ran outside to see that, in fact, my car was still running... it was locked, thankfully, but I forgot to take the keys out. I've never done that.

Fast forward to 4:00, when we get tomorrow's pot of coffee ready. My co-worker Taira always fills the grounds in the coffee maker and I always fill up the pot with water... well I barely tapped the pot against the sink when I went to fill it and the bottom breaks off...

WTF!!!

This is definitely one of those 'Bad' days I've heard so much about.
